Looking to elevate your organization, and bring it to the next level? Bring on learners from Humber College to be your virtual interns, in a project-based experience. Learners will work on one or more projects of your choosing over the internship period, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. Students in this course will synthesize concepts and strategies from previous and concurrent courses to create a comprehensive business plan for their envisioned enterprise. The plan entails evaluating market attractiveness, internal capabilities, and external risks. It includes assessing various business strategies, formulating a mission, vision, goals, and business objectives, and outlining detailed strategies for key functional areas like marketing, operations, finance, human resources, and leadership. The course allows students to refine a business concept and advance it toward launch.

Project features: The Capstone Project should have a “ learning component ” which students should practice/learn/incorporate new/advanced IT technologies in their project For the software development projects , students should design a multi-tier application, using different design patterns, software frameworks and standard libraries/APIs/services, and considering proper security/performance/scalability features. For the database projects , students should involve into planning/implementing any of the following tasks including the database design/development, database monitoring and administration, data analytics and big data, business intelligence and report services using Oracle and SQL Server tools as well as Hadoop, NoSQL and R language.

Partner with us in a Capstone project and benefit from getting a team of 5-6 students supervised by an experienced professional who will help you come up with a data-driven solution. The team will help you define the scope of the problem and the data for further analysis. They will apply a broad range of data analytics skills to build a solution and present business insights for your consideration.

Students of Computer Programming are looking to complete one work term of a paid co-op position (12-15 weeks). Payment can be negotiated. They have completed 3 semesters of their program and have one final semester which they will complete after their co-op work term.

IT and Computer Science Capstone Project

The Capstone Project is an industry project which a team of about four graduating students from the two grad-certification programs (Information Technology Solutions (2 years) or Enterprise Software Development (1 year)) would be completed in the final semester of their program. The project should be about 14 weeks of duration with a workload of one full-time employee (about 600 hours of human effort).

Entrepreneurship Fundamentals

In this course, students have developed a broad understanding of entrepreneurship and its leadership role within a new enterprise, the process of developing, testing, and refining their own idea for a business, and the general process of taking that idea and setting up a business. Alternative start-up methods have also been reviewed and have an overview of the steps involved in planning and starting a new business and allow students to explore and develop their own ideas for an entrepreneurial venture. This is a highly experiential course where students, working in teams, will undertake a real-world case study related to new business start-ups.

They have the option to develop their own ideas or collaborate with an external client. Can you convince them that they should team up with you?
