Project Examples

Students can complete a substantial project for your organization over the placement period. We suggest providing a starting project, but as the placement goes on there may be other duties or projects the student is asked to complete as well. Providing a central project creates a structure for the internship, and gives the student (and company) a tangible goal.

Program outline

Georgian College Sport Administration students have had the opportunity to fulfill their field placement hours in minor sport associations, private sport facilities, OHL and professional women's hockey teams, retail sport franchises, NHL scouting, player appearance management, statistics and game analysis just to name a few.

Second year students who have fully completed their fist year of the Sport Administration program may choose to participate in this program. Students have the opportunity to apply classroom concepts to the challenges of the sport industry as they gain valuable, relevant work experience in a field placement role within your organization. Students can work in a variety of areas:

  • Finance
  • Administration
  • Analytics
  • Marketing
  • Sponsorships
  • Partnerships
  • Sales
  • Event Operations

Benefits to the employer

  • Employers help the college produce highly productive and potential future leaders by complementing and enhancing a student’s academic study through meaningful work experience.
  • Students are available for specific long-term projects or for a series of short-term tasks, depending on employer needs.
  • Students could be assessed by employers for their ability, professionalism, and aptitude to become a potential career employee.
  • The Georgian College Sport Administration field placements are non paid experiences.

Selection process

  • Please submit a project to this page describing your Virtual placement opportunity, if you are able to provide a position.
  • Students will apply for field placement positions with employers whose projects are approved; students will have recently completed their first year of studies.
